Visitors to the Garden
It is very hard to be a bird in our backyard. Or at least a little bird. We have a squirrel, a cute little fellow, who apparently, while we were recently in England, decided that there was a very warm spot under the cover to the gas grill for him to take up residence. He had a handful of sunflower seeds, twigs, fluff, and straw all ready for a nest when Big Guy wondered why we kept nuzzling under the grill to see what was there. Here is a photo of him after Patrick and I chased him off the deck and into a nearby birch tree.
This morning, another ominous sign... a big hawk. He's not very much in focus, so Big Lady will try again, but here he is perched on the fence with his back toward the camera. We did not see evidence of what he was after, but it usually isn't bird seed that he's looking for. I personally like to bark at anything in my air space even if it's a hawk up hundreds of feet above circling over the house. This one was very tempting and fortunate for him he flew off before Patrick and I went bounding out the back door looking for him.

Snow... in spite of technology!

Well, the month has flown past. Big Lady has been on the computer a lot. It's bad enough she uses Facebook a lot and talks about chickens and pineapple crops and white peacocks. Now she says she's doing this stuff for the sake of 23 Things Kansas. It's all we can do to distract her every evening!
But that said, today she took an early morning photo of me when I came in from the snow. Despite great technology, modeling, and weather radar, the fact is, it snows when it wants to snow.
Big Lady does report she used two Webex Webinars this week concerning WorldCat Local with OCLC. Big Lady *loves* Webex. She was able to participate and even get two questions answered, as well as scrape screen shots to a Word file while the webex was going on.
We hope she will take time away from her LinkedIn and Facebook and all that other stuff and help us shovel snow this weekend.

Happy New Year!

It seems really silly to think that Big Lady hasn't updated my blog in so many months, but now she's got an incentive, apparently. Something called 23 Things Kansas. However, I like living in Kansas. Kansas is kind to black dogs. We have summer and winter all in the same weeks some times.
By the way, I'm sure photos will follow, but some of our followers have given Patrick and I new names. Instead of "Patrick" and "JJ", we are affectionately referred to as "Dots" and "Fluff". Of course, we also answer to other myriad names in our repretoire, as I know personally I respond to "Stealth" and "The Agent". Perhaps I will expand on why they call me that in a future post.
So, from "Dots and Fluff", here's to a great new year of Blogging!
